Camarilla UK: Newcastle

A summary of the September gathering of Newcastle's Kindred.

For the second month in a row the new kindred of Newcastle made there way to the high class hotel to attend the Prince's court. With Jimmy and the Prince away on business there was only Mr. McKay present to welcome people in and oversee precedings. No sooner than the first two people arrived the discussions began as people once again tried to wrestle for control of the young domain.

About fifteen minutes into the evening those present felt a strangeness pass over them. Blood seemed once again to be being pumped by their hearts to give a blush to their skin. A surge of genuine emotion overtook them as for the first time in decades most of them felt more than reflected memories of past feelings. To add to the feeling of unease, the powers they had become accustomed to no longer seemed to have any potency.

The focus of the evening shifted from politics to discovering the cause of this strange effect. During this time a new kindred arrived, with the fact he appeared human being used as proof he was a vampire! One of the more unstable kindred, Jake, seemed to be getting more and more agitated and it soon became apparent that three different personalities were battling for control of his body. This lead to a fair amount of distraction but he was finally able to control himself. He then settled down with Victor and Joseph, the new arrival who turned out to be a scholar, and began work on deciphering the rune graffiti. In fact Joseph and Jake spent quite some time in discussion before Joseph handed Jake two old looking scrolls.

Shortly after Vincent received a call and promptly left with Vincent in toe muttering something about Mr. Cleveland. And a little while after that the strange humanising effect seemed to pass and all returned to their undead state and felt the blessings of true emotion once again slipping out of their grasps. It only took a few moments for them to realise that Joseph still looked human and as such must have been human all along. He came close to escaping, but literally ran into the two returning Ventrue, who with the help of the Sheriff, physically removed the mortal from the meeting. Neither Joseph nor Jake returned to the Elysium that evening.

The Prince finally made his appearance just in time to see the aftermath. After a brief chat with Vincent he seemed to get quite agitated and stayed only long enough to chastise his Harpy for some reason and check on the two new members of his court before once again leaving. The evening came to a close shortly after and most people left a little confused.
